How to print coloring pages from your phone
Start with the actual coloring PDF so the print preview contains the drawing you selected. Your phone sends the file to a compatible printer through its print menu or the printer maker’s app.
A real PDF layout to compare with your preview
The prepared Original PDF for A Hug for Myself is US Letter: 8.5 × 11 inches. Its artwork occupies 6⅔ × 10 inches, centered with ½-inch top and bottom margins and about 0.92-inch side margins.
Check these three things
- Paper: choose the size actually loaded in the printer. This example PDF is Letter; other files or your paper may differ.
- Scale: inspect all four edges. Fit-to-page can reduce the page to your printer’s available area; enlarging or borderless fill can crop it.
- Preview: keep the bunny’s ears, feet and outer white space visible. Check pale shading separately when printing a grayscale design.
A4 is narrower and taller than Letter. Select A4 when that is the loaded paper and use the preview to confirm the whole Letter PDF fits. Do not assume “actual size” fits every printer.
These dimensions were checked in the prepared PDF. Printer margins, phone menus, ink and paper still vary; test one sheet before printing more.
Open the purchased PDF
Sign in to the account used for your purchase and open My purchases. Find the design, choose Open PDF and wait for the file to be prepared. When the open action is ready, tap it to open the file.
If you downloaded the all-files ZIP instead, extract it in your phone’s file manager and open the PDF you want. Original-only designs have an Original PNG and PDF; other designs can also include Enhanced versions. Keep the edition with the appearance you prefer.
Print from an iPhone or iPad
For AirPrint, use a compatible printer on the same Wi-Fi network as your device. In the app displaying the PDF, open Share or Actions, find Print and select the printer. Choose the pages and copies, inspect the preview, then print.
If Print is missing, that viewer may not support it. Open the saved PDF in an app with printing support or follow the printer manufacturer’s instructions. Available controls vary by app and printer.
Print from Android
Open the PDF in a viewer that supports printing. In Chrome, the menu is More, then Share, then Print. Select your printer and expand the print settings to check the available options.
A PDF viewer or printer app may place Print in a different menu. If your printer does not appear, check its network connection and the manufacturer’s Android setup instructions. Selecting Save as PDF saves a file; it does not print a sheet.
Check the whole drawing in the preview
Select the paper size loaded in your printer. Check that the artwork’s edges fit inside the printable area. Use a fit-to-page option when needed to avoid clipping, and inspect the result before sending more than one copy.
For grayscale artwork, make sure the preview still shows pale shading and darker details. A draft or high-contrast setting can change their appearance. Try one sheet and adjust the settings if important details look too faint or too dark.
Choose paper for the materials you plan to use
Check your printer’s supported paper types and thickness before loading a heavier sheet. Use a paper intended for your coloring medium and test a small area first; ink, paper and pencils or markers can interact differently.
For alcohol markers, test the printed ink for smearing and place a protective sheet underneath to catch bleed-through. Follow both the paper and printer manufacturers’ guidance. You can keep a spare test print for trying colors.
